This unprecedented partnership reinforces the reputation of Shangri-La's Le Touessrok as a must-visit gastronomic address in Mauritius, hosting The Test Kitchen for six weeks, from April 12 to May 26, 2018, at the Republik Beach Club & Grill.
For the duration of this exclusive collaboration, guests are invited to enjoy a culinary journey culminating in Chef Luke Dale Roberts, winner of numerous awards for The Test Kitchen. A name synonymous with the finest, most creative and innovative cuisine in Africa, Luke Dale Roberts will bring his culinary creations to the shores of Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. On the program: a tapas menu and a five-course menu, two variations of which will be available on different dates, a true reflection of his journey around the world; creations highlighting the spices and flavors of Mauritius.
The resort's white-sand beaches will offer a stunning backdrop for this unique collaboration that will see Chef Luke Dale Roberts and his 17-person squad share their expert techniques and passion for local and exotic flavors alongside the chefs of the day. This unique collaboration will provide gourmets with the opportunity to sample The Test Kitchen's inventive and renowned cuisine on the heavenly shores of the iconic Mauritius resort.
Inaugurated in 2010 by award-winning chef Luke Dale Roberts, The Test Kitchen unveils a Dark Room and a Light Room, open only for dinner. The concept of the establishment is to live a true gastronomic journey through the Dark Room which serves a tapas and cocktails menu, while the Light Room offers a 5-course gourmet menu.
Inside the Dark Room, guests unroll a parchment and discover the menu on a world map, as an evocation to the trip revealing the culinary treasures they will enjoy at dinner.
More airy and more traditional, the Light Room offers a menu reflecting the wanderings around the world of Chef Luke Dale Roberts. Among the iconic dishes:
- the Peruvian ceviche evoking Chef Roberts' long stay in the South American roads
- the "Billionaire's Shortbread" or the "billionaire's shortbread" as a sentimental nod to Scotland, heartland
To echo the Dark Room and Light Room concept of Cape Town's Test Kitchen, guests will begin their evening at the Republik Bar to sample the menu of tapas and cocktails. The gastronomic journey will continue in the lagoon restaurant to enjoy the five-course gourmet menu, as a tribute to the Cape Light Room.
